What A Great Start To The Holiday Weekend Ride
Headed Toward And Decatur It Was A Little Foggy
First Stop For Gas And Potty Stop - 120 miles
Second Stop For Gas And Potty - 108 miles
And We Decided To Have Lunch In Childress
Got A Little Better At Parking In Style
Turned Off Of Hwy 287 At Estelline For Scenic Route
Found Some Scenery Fairly Quickly
Our Alternate Route Brought Us Thru Turkey!
Had To Make A Stop For Another "Photo Op"
City Money Spent On A Wall Mural
The City Mascot Prominently Displayed In Town
Monument For Homeboy - Bob Wills
Then Headed Out Thru More Scenic Roadway
Then We Headed West Towards Palo Duro Canyon
The Next Curve Took Us Down Into The Canyon
The Hills And Curves Were Excellent
The Colors Were Awesome
The Formations Were Unique
Same Highway But So Many Different Views
Then We Came Upon This Gateway And View
This Is Lake Mackenzie From The Roadway
More Roller Coaster Hills Than Oklahoma!
Plateaus And Valleys And More Colors
More Smiling And Riding
Riding Into Rocks Where The Road Ends - Not!
And Finally Riding Out Of The Eastern Canyon
Then Here Comes The Rest Of The Group
Thirly Minutes Later We Hit I-40 In Amarillo
One More Stop For Gas And Potty For The Day
We Made It! 50 Miles West Of Amarillo To Our Mark
1139 Miles Either Way - Start Or Finish
Ya Can't Miss It If You're On The Right Road!
And This Is The Right Road To Get Your Kicks!
Day Is Done And Now It's Dinner Time - Mexican!
I Believe In --------- Old Trucks Too!
Good Portions And Pretty Good Meal
Some Sweet Dessert To Top Off The Spicy Meal
Pay No Attention To The Margarita Mugs
They Were All Out Of Beer When We Got There!
Still West Of Amarillo In A Small Little Town
Kinda Expensive Room For A Remote Location!
Sunday Morning Was Chilly In The Flat Land
Headed Due South For About An Hour Or So
James Found A Spike Of Some Sort Early On
And Gene Found A Photo Op While Waiting!
A Quick Right Turn For Five Miles On Hwy 70
And We Made It Home - Or At Least Back To Earth
Hope The Gas Holds Out For Miles And Miles
Straight Ahead And Straight Behind
The Wind Was Not Our Friend For Many Miles
Wind Definitely Was Bad News For This Field
Started Getting Warm So Might As Well Prepare!
Gene Improvised For His Cruise Control To Function
